I come from a family in which “art” was not considered a career path. Feeling lost, I left college to work fulltime until I could return to school on my own terms. I graduated from the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City with a degree in Advertising Design. I have worked in many “creative” positions but none were fulfilling.
I married my soul mate, Jimmy, in December 2014 and, with his support, I left my full time job. Through Jimmy’s encouragement, I felt compelled to follow my dreams. He, too, is creative and we challenge and inspire each other daily.
I have worked in many different mediums but my favorites are pastels and acrylics.
Lately I find myself intrigued by abandoned houses and barns, wondering who lived there and where they may be now. There’s a sad beauty in them. That is the direction I’m headed for my next series.
Several years ago I realized that whatever talent I might have was not my own. It was a gift from my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. I hope to convey what God has done for me somehow in my art. I strive to honor Him with my creations.
